Often times it can be frustrating and difficult for a business to increase their sales.  Sometimes the simplest sales tactics and strategies are the best.

Here are 5 ways to increase your sales.

  1. Ask for references and referrals from your current customers.  There is nothing better than getting a referral or reference from a current customer.  This not only boosts your credibility but makes potential customers feel safe in trusting your business.  The best sales leads are the ones that are referred to you by your existing customers.  Sometimes customers are not always forthcoming in giving references; so you have to ask politely for them.

  2. Ask for customer feedback, and actually address their concerns.  Customer feedback is one of those things that can really improve your business as a whole. When asking for customer feedback really listen to what your customers are saying.  You want to pick out the actual problem they are having and how your product or service can help solve their problem.  They might point out things they really like about your service and you may want to double down on those things.  You can also come across things in which they dislike or hate about your service;  don't let it bruise your ego, but use that feedback to improve your service.

  3. Provide excellent customer support.  Even if you have the best product/service in the world, excellent customer support is what actually keeps your customer loyal and engaged with your business.  The better your customer support is, the easier it is to engage, retain, and up-sell your customers.  Excellent customer support is key to building a brand and building loyalty.  Remember to address your support calls in a timely manner and to exceed your customer expectations.

  4. Advertise.  People will not know you exist unless you tell them.  Even with the best customer references and referrals, you are missing a whole lot of sales if you don't advertise.  There are many different forms of advertisement and marketing, some of them are free and some are not.   You need to figure out what works best for your business.  Sometimes paid ads in the local newspaper, television, or local media will work best.  Other times a low-cost or free approach to advertising is best. You can try free or low-cost forms of advertisement by getting your business listed in an online directory, having a website for your business, and creating free content on blogs branded by your business.  Signing up for social media accounts for your business is another low cost-free way to advertise. Essentially, you must advertise your business effectively to manage marketing expenses

  5. Experiment.  To increase sales, businesses sometimes need to try something new.  You might need to tweak the price of your existing service, add a new service, or make a tweak to your current service.  You need to measure and keep track of how the change to your business is doing.  If it is not doing good, then change it back to what it was before, else if it is doing great then make the change permanent.  It sounds simple but coming up with ways to change your business or trying out a new idea could take some time.  Remember to not be afraid to try something new.
